In plain words

  • Zelenberg does not carry goods. A freight forwarder or a shipping line does, under its own bill of lading.
  • The Incoterm in your contract, FOB or CIF, decides who books the freight and when the risk passes to you.
  • Our reports and your documents arrive by email. Samples travel by courier, at cost.

This summary helps you read the page. The numbered clauses below are the terms that apply.

01Our role

We do not own, store or carry the goods at any point. We are not the carrier, the freight forwarder or the customs agent.

We can watch the loading, follow up the booking and collect the documents. The carrier is responsible for the goods in transit.

02Where we work

Today every factory on Zelenberg is in China. Goods ship from Chinese ports to buyers in Latin America, North Africa and Türkiye-adjacent markets.

If your destination is outside these corridors, ask us before you order. We tell you plainly if we cannot help.

03FOB and CIF

Your contract with the manufacturer names an Incoterm. It decides who pays for the freight, and where the risk passes to you.

  • FOB: the manufacturer loads the goods on board at the Chinese port. You book and pay for the freight, and the risk is yours from that point.
  • CIF: the manufacturer books and pays for the freight and minimum insurance to your port. The risk still passes to you once the goods are on board in China.
  • Other terms, such as EXW or CFR, can be used if you and the manufacturer agree them.

04Booking the freight

Under FOB, you book the freight yourself, or ask us to collect freight quotes as part of AgroAgent.

We book a container only after you agree to the rate. The freight is paid separately, at that rate, with no margin from us.

05Loading and the container

With the Container Loading Report, or under AgroAgent, our team watches the loading at the factory.

The report records the container condition, the quantity, the packaging, the stowage, and the container and seal numbers, with photographs and video.

Once the container is sealed, what happens to it is the carrier's responsibility.

06Transit times and delays

Sailing times come from the shipping line and are estimates. Weather, port congestion and customs checks can change them.

We are not liable for delay in transit. When we learn of a delay on an order we work on, we tell you.

07Insurance

Under CIF, the manufacturer buys only minimum cover. Under FOB, there is no cover unless you buy it.

We recommend cargo insurance on the full value of every shipment. We do not sell insurance.

08Customs, duties and import rules

You are the importer. You clear customs in your country and pay the import duties and taxes.

Before you order, check that the product may be imported, and which registration or licence it needs. Our reports do not replace that advice.

09Shipping documents

The manufacturer issues the commercial invoice and the packing list. The carrier issues the bill of lading.

Under AgroAgent, we collect these and the other shipment documents and send them to you. That is where our work on the order ends.

10Samples

With Sampling & Delivery, we collect samples at the factory and send them by international courier to the address you give.

Courier charges are on the invoice at cost. Once the courier collects the samples, they travel at your risk.

Some products need a permit to enter your country, even as a sample. Tell us about any such rule before we send.

11Reports

Visit, production, loading and laboratory reports are sent by email, to the address on your account.

Each report carries the date of the work and the name of the person who did it.

12Loss or damage in transit

A claim for loss or damage goes to the carrier or the insurer, under the bill of lading or the insurance policy.

Note any damage on the delivery receipt, and tell the carrier within its time limit, which is often only a few days.

Our loading report, with its photographs and seal numbers, is often the evidence such a claim needs. We send you a copy on request.

13Changes to this policy

We may change this policy. We publish each version with its date.
